ABOUT MIKE
Mike Roberson has lived in Chatham County all his life. He attended our local public school system and is a strong community supporter and leader. He has been married to his high school sweetheart for 35 years and they have two wonderful children. He is a dedicated law enforcement officer who believes in honesty, teamwork, and community involvement, by being active in supporting local businesses, churches, and community events.
His leadership and service skills began at a young age through his involvement with school activities, church youth groups, and sports. He encourages team effort, acknowledgment, and achievement through hard work and dedication.
His desire to help others was instilled in him by his parents. He is a generous, yet humble man who displays the upmost professionalism in his life and work. His leadership skills are evident throughout his education and daily life. As a volunteer working as an Emergency Medical Technician and advancing to Paramedic, Mike realized his career path would be to PROTECT and SERVE.
In 1990, he began his career in Law Enforcement at Chapel Hill Police Department, where he served as a distinguished officer for 12 years. He quickly advanced from Public Safety Officer to Community Police Officer in low income and public housing areas to Investigations and worked to protect juvenile victims and restore juvenile offenders.
His love of Chatham County brought him back to work at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office in 2002, where he worked with youth services, school resource officers, Detention, Court, and Civil units, and was promoted to Chief Deputy in 2013. He has been involved in the planning, design, budgeting, and implementation of the Historic Courthouse, Justice Center, and Detention Center.
He demonstrates the professionalism and dedication it takes to be a productive, efficient community servant. His persistent, practical, and caring mannerisms have paved the way to fulfill his need to lead Chatham County to be a respectable, prosperous, and progressive county.
